Cardiff City vs West Brom preview: Team news, lineups, supercomputer prediction

West Brom travel to Cardiff City on Saturday for their final away day of the Championship season.

West Brom begin life without Tony Mowbray for the first time this weekend as they travel to the struggling Cardiff side.

While the playoffs are still mathematically possible for the Baggies, it looks incredibly unlikely as they remain six points behind with two games left to play.

However, West Brom will no doubt aim for a victory against Cardiff in order to end the season on a somewhat positive note.

Preview

Both teams come into the tie without permanent managers. For West Brom, Baggies legend James Morrison has been placed in temporary charge until the end of the season.

Cardiff City’s interim manager is former Arsenal and Wales international Aaron Ramsey, who signed for the Bluebirds in 2023.

Following Omer Riza’s sacking on 19 April, Ramsey was placed in charge and picked up a point in his first match against Oxford United.

Technically, both teams have something to play for coming into the fixture, but West Brom are now extremely unlikely to make the playoffs.

In comparison, a defeat could send Cardiff down on Saturday as they are set to start the game in 23rd.

There are also injury concerns for Isaak Davies and Jak Alnwick going into the tie.

West Brom will be boosted by the return of Jayson Molumby and Callum Styles, who have both returned from suspension.

However, Josh Maja is not expected to feature before the end of the campaign.
