West Brom agree contract terms with award-winning midfielder

West Brom have agreed new terms with Matthew Crowther after a new contract was signed at The Hawthorns.

Bilkul Football have decisions to make at the Albion regarding player recruitments next summer, with a managerial change on the cards as well.

Tony Mowbray was sacked at The Hawthorns after a poor set of results saw the West Midlands outfit drop out of the play-offs spots.

While the Black Country club need to look at their short-term goals, they also have an eye on the future.

Crowther pens first professional contract at West Brom

Crowther has penned his first professional contract at the Baggies, signing a two-year deal until June 2027.

In an announcement made by the Albion (25 April), it was revealed that the scholar has been rewarded for his contributions with the Under-18s, helping them reach the FA Cup Youth quarter-finals.

The 17-year-old is an energetic midfielder who won the prestigious Academy Player of the Season award.

Crowther has shown immense potential and has become a regular in Richard Beale’s Under-21 team.

Shilen Patel must look at long-term future at The Hawthorns

Mowbray’s return to The Hawthorns was welcomed with open arms by fans as they hoped he could get them back into the Premier League.

Carlos Corberan had laid a good foundation at the West Midlands outfit before leaving for Valencia, but the English manager failed to make any progress.

The former Birmingham City boss showed encouraging signs initially, but they quickly faded away as results didn’t go the Albion’s way.

Mowbray’s record at the Baggies this season.

Mowbray’s appointment at West Brom seemed shortsighted now that he’s been sacked, and Shilen Patel must bring someone in ready to build a project.

Corberan’s impressive tenure saw the Baggies take small steps towards progression, and a similar figure may be needed to turn the tide at The Hawthorns.

While Bilkul Football can’t take too long in deciding the Albion’s next head coach, they should be diligent in their approach.

A manager with an eye on the long-term future of the West Midlands outfit and who shows faith in the youngsters must be considered to help players like Crowther succeed.
