Armstrong stinks in 4/10, 8/10 gem shines: West Brom player ratings v Cardiff City
West Brom played out a 0-0 draw with Cardiff City in a result which has relegated the Bluebirds to League One.
The Baggies’ trip to League One-bound Cardiff marked their last away game of the season before they host Luton at The Hawthorns on the final day of the season next weekend.
Saturday’s draw was also interim boss James Morrison’s first game in the Albion’s dugout after Tony Mowbray was sacked as a consequence of Easter Monday’s defeat to Derby.
The first half at the Cardiff City Stadium was largely uneventful, although Isaac Price produced a stunning goal-line clearance to deny Calum Chambers’ goal-bound header from a Bluebirds corner.
The Northern Ireland international was then unlucky to see his effort strike the post after he latched onto Adam Armstrong’s pull-back.
In the second half, there was an incredible passage of play when Darnell Furlong made a goal-line block before Alex Robertson smashed the woodwork on the rebound for Cardiff, and then forced Joshua Griffiths into making two quick-fire saves.
Price was then at the thick of the action once more, when he teed up Armstrong, but the striker failed to get on the end of a well-crafted cross.
However, the 21-year-old was swiftly hooked from the action in favour of Jed Wallace.
Armstrong missed a key opportunity to win the game for West Brom, failing to keep his composure in a one-on-one situation as the points were shared.
