James Morrison reacts to James McClean post as Wrexham win Championship promotion
James Morrison is the man at the helm at West Brom after Tony Mowbray was sacked.
It did look as though the Baggies were going to get a chance of going for success in the play-offs, but Mowbray’s tough tenure saw West Brom fall away.
As Albion prepare for another season of Championship football, they are set to be joined by a former Baggie in James McClean, who gained promotion to the second tier with Wrexham.

Morrison reacts after McClean promotion
Some West Brom supporters will still be getting over the disappointment of dropping away at the wrong time and failing to achieve their aims.
Nevertheless, the job for Shilen Patel is now to make the right appointment and give West Brom the best chance at going for the top end of the table once more.
In the meantime, McClean is set to make a return to The Hawthorns after having left the club back in 2018 following relegation to the Championship.
Season | Appearances |
2015/16 | 35 |
2016/17 | 34 |
2017/18 | 30 |
The Irishman joined Wrexham last season, meaning this is his second promotion with the Welsh club in as many seasons.
After taking to Instagram to post about his promotion with Wrexham, Morrison reacted to the news by liking the post.
West Brom have to get managerial appointment right
Wrexham may have plenty of money, but the fact that they will be a Championship side next season will no doubt make those who are more established eager to push up the table.
Carlos Corberan’s mid-season departure from the Black Country proved to be a killer blow and although the subsequent appointment of Mowbray wasn’t a rushed one, it was fairly uninspiring.
Therefore, this puts the pressure on the hierarchy at West Brom to get this appointment spot on, ready to get underway in preparations for next term.
The likes of Russell Martin, Gary O’Neil and Steve Cooper have all been linked with the vacancy, while Ryan Mason is an early favourite for the role.
There will be some big budgets in the Championship again next term, meaning if Albion want to be successful, they will have to be prepared to be shrewd in their business.
McClean will be hoping his return to West Brom turns out to be more successful than Mowbray’s was, although supporters will no doubt be keen to poke fun at Wrexham next season.
