West Brom star’s agent confirms he’s leaving The Hawthorns, Hull contact made
West Brom are set for a summer of change as Shilen Patel is tasked with replacing Tony Mowbray.
Mowbray’s tenure at The Hawthorns did not go to plan as West Brom dropped out of the play-off positions, now having to settle for another season of Championship football.
With that in mind, once a new manager has been identified, the new boss will have a big job on his hands as he looks to put together a squad that has the ability to go the extra mile.

West Brom set for player departure
Although it was Mowbray’s head that was on the chopping block, there have been a number of squad members who have been underwhelming, especially in the most crucial part of the campaign.
Therefore, while additions are necessary for the Baggies to improve next season, a number of players will also have to be moved off the books at The Hawthorns.
One man who is already on that list of those departing is Semi Ajayi, with Africafoot reporting that he is set to leave the Black Country as his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
Although the 31-year-old is not pushing for a move, there has been no contact over a new deal to extend his future and given he has made just 14 Championship appearances this season, that doesn’t come as a massive surprise.
Nonetheless, with other sides having already made contact about his services ahead of the summer window, he may not be losing too much sleep.
Ajayi’s agent told Africafoot: “[He] will definitely leave West Brom, as they haven’t shown any serious intention of renewing his contract. He’s happy there, but he’ll leave if they don’t make an offer.
“He’s already in talks with Reading and Hull, who admire his versatility and experience. An assessment will take place in the coming weeks, but he’ll be there somewhere next season.”

West Brom to part ways with Ajayi
Although Ajayi has had to struggle with injury issues throughout the campaign, making 14 appearances across the campaign does not suggest much promise that he would be one to turn things around at The Hawthorns.
Season | Appearanaces |
2024/25 | 14 |
2023/24 | 26 |
In addition to this, at 31-years-old and with a contract expiring at the end of the current campaign, it would be a crazy move for Albion to consider making any further commitment at this stage.
Whoever comes in as boss has to be prepared to be ruthless at West Brom and if success is to be achieved, then there is going to have to be some space made in the squad.
With a potential move already lined up, parting ways could be an outcome that works well for all parties at the end of the term.
