Don Goodman names shock managerial appointment West Brom must make
West Brom remain on the hunt for a new manager after Tony Mowbray was sacked as the Baggies slipped away from the Championship playoff places.
Interim boss James Morrison guided the Black Country outfit to a 0-0 draw at Cardiff City at the weekend, which relegated the Bluebirds to League One.
The Baggies now sit five points adrift of the top six with just one game left to play, as their playoff dream has come to an end for another season.
Owner Shilen Patel must now turn his attention to appointing a new manager who can steer West Brom to the playoffs next term.

Goodman urges West Brom to consider Dave Challinor appointment
West Brom are now winless in three games, and will be eager to emerge victorious when they host Luton Town on the last day of the season.
In the longer term, Don Goodman told Football League World (27 April) that the Baggies should consider appointing someone like Stockport County’s Dave Challinor as their next boss.
“If I was advising West Brom, I don’t know anything about the foreign coach market, it may be an avenue that they look to explore, but of those in this country, I’d look to League One and see who is doing well.
“I see Dave Challinor year in, year out performing brilliantly at Stockport County.”
“They play front-foot, attacking football, possession-based. I think that he’s a brilliant coach.
“Stockport fans won’t thank me for saying it, but I think West Brom could do a lot worse than looking in that direction, or somebody of a similar ilk.”

Challinor appointment could go either way for West Brom
Stockport boss Challinor does not boast the sort of name that Baggies supporters would have expected to be linked with the managerial vacancy at The Hawthorns.

Derby (H) | 1-3 L |
Cardiff (A) | 0-0 D |
However, the 49-year-old arguably deserves his shot at Championship football next term, having guided Stockport from the National League to League One in just three seasons.
Furthermore, Challinor has guided the Greater Manchester club to a playoff spot in the third tier, so his side could still clinch promotion to the second tier alongside Birmingham City and Wrexham.
So there is still every chance that Challinor could be managing in the Championship with his current club next season.
However, as far as West Brom are concerned, there are risks attached to potentially appointing the 49-year-old, as he has never managed in the second tier before.
The Baggies’ ultimate goal is to seal a return to the Premier League, while Challinor was managing in non-league just three seasons ago.
