QPR ‘start manager search’ after West Brom hold Marti Cifuentes talks
West Brom want to appoint Marti Cifuentes as their next manager after sacking Tony Mowbray, which may force QPR into action.
Shilen Patel relieved Mowbray of his duties after the Baggies lost to Derby County on 21 April, and they’re now in need of a new head coach ahead of next season.
Cifuentes has been linked with a move to The Hawthorns as the Albion look to start anew after a disappointing season.
With the Spanish manager potentially set to leave the Hoops, they will have to make plans for what’s to come.

Cifuentes likely to leave as QPR to look for new manager
Cifuentes is likely to leave QPR amid links to the Baggies, according to talkwba.
It’s been claimed that the Hoops and the Spanish manager are looking for a resolution as soon as possible, with an exit on the cards.

DOOD revealed on X (27 April) that the Albion had held talks with the 42-year-old head coach as they want to fill the void in the dugout.
Now, talkwba write on X (28 April): “Cifuentes has publicly spoken about planning next season with QPR, however, behind the scenes it doesn’t seem that simple.
“Both parties will look for a resolution ASAP. I’m sure QPR will want to start a manager search very soon should Cifuentes leave, which seems very likely.”
Patel must hire right manager at West Brom
Mowbray’s arrival at The Hawthorns initially looked encouraging as the Englishman returned to familiar grounds where he had previously enjoyed relative success.
The former Birmingham City boss hit the ground running at the West Midlands outfit, but the performances soon started to decline, leading to his exit.
Carlos Corberan had left the Albion in a decent position to secure a play-offs spot before joining Valencia, and Mowbray was unable to build on that progress.
Patel can’t take too long to hire the next West Brom manager, as several things need to be planned ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
The new head coach will arguably be pivotal in deciding which players are surplus to requirements and which positions need strengthening to help the Baggies return to the Premier League.
Cifuentes has done an impressive job helping QPR survive relegation from the Championship and will arguably relish a new challenge at the West Midlands outfit.
There’s no guarantee that the Spanish head coach will be the right person to help the Albion fulfil their aspirations next season, but what the future holds for him remains to be seen.
