‘West Brom have perfect bargaining chip for Cifuentes’ as approach made
West Brom could take a step closer to bringing in Marti Cifuentes ahead of the summer transfer window.
The QPR boss has emerged as a favourite to take over at The Hawthorns after Tony Mowbray was sacked after the 3-1 defeat to Derby County.
There is plenty of discussion surrounding the role in the dugout, but it appears that the Spaniard is a wanted man in the Black Country.
Now the Baggies look to have a bargaining chip ready for the summer to help bring in the 42-year-old head coach ahead of the new season.

West Brom to tempt QPR to let Cifuentes go
Albion are in desperate need of a head coach to get them on the right track after such a difficult spell in the second half of the campaign.
It does look as if they could land on their feet ahead of the summer with Cifuentes seemingly keen to leave QPR at the end of the season.
Stat | Marti Cifuentes |
Matches | 82 |
Wins | 28 |
Draws | 23 |
Losses | 31 |
This could see the Baggies look to find a resolution to bring the former Hammarby boss in ready for preseason in the West Midlands.
With that being said, the R’s are unlikely to let their boss go without a fight, but Darnell Furlong may prove to be an ideal bargaining chip in B71.
The R’s are reportedly keen on reuniting with the right-back in the summer and have made initial enquiries about the 29-year-old [Talkwba, 28 April].
This could be a perfect scenario for the Baggies to work on as they approach the summer window in need of a new manager.

Furlong could leave West Brom in manager boost
There is no doubt that the defender has been an excellent servant for Albion since signing from the Shepherd’s Bush outfit in 2019.
With that being said, Furlong’s race may now be run at The Hawthorns, which could point towards a summer sale making sense for all parties.
This would only be made better if the Baggies were to also get Cifuentes as part of a deal, ready for the new Championship campaign.
Although losing the right back and Mason Holgate back to Everton could be a blow, having the Spaniard in charge could have more of a telling impact.
The QPR boss could prove to be excellent in a similar ilk to Carlos Corberan, which is exactly what is needed at The Hawthorns right now.
