Sky pundit shares what he’s heard about Cifuentes at QPR amid major West Brom news
West Brom appear to be closing in on hiring Marti Cifuentes as their search for a new manager continues.
The Baggies parted ways with Tony Mowbray after a disappointing season, with the experienced manager being unable to turn things around at The Hawthorns after taking over in January.
James Morrison is currently taking charge of the team on a temporary basis until the end of the season, with West Brom having one final game remaining to wrap up the campaign.
However, the hierarchy are working toward bringing in a new permanent manager, and Cifuentes has reportedly emerged as the leading candidate.

West Brom are set to raid QPR
It has been reported that the Baggies have held talks with the 42-year-old’s representatives, despite the fact he is currently in charge of QPR, but they haven’t reached the stage where they have requested permission from the club to talk to him.
The QPR boss has had his odds slashed recently, as he has emerged as the favourite to become the new West Brom manager with the bookies.
Cifuentes is reportedly unhappy at Loftus Road, with QPR having fallen away from the playoff positions as the season has progressed.
Now, Sky Sports pundit has backed the QPR manager to make the move to West Brom and take on a new challenge for next season.
Hendrie told Football League World, “It would be a step up from QPR, there’s no doubt. That’s no disrespect to QPR, but a club of West Brom’s stature, you’d feel it’s certainly one he’d turn his head to.
“It would be a great appointment because of his way and his style of play.”

Cifuentes will be under immediate pressure at West Brom
Even though new managers are typically given some time to make an impact at a new team, the expectations on Cifuentes, or whoever takes on the role, would be to hit the ground running.
West Brom supporters have been left disappointed this season due to how far they’ve fallen away from the playoffs, as they currently sit 10th in the table.
There is a chance that the Baggies could still drop even lower than that, which would be a frustrating situation for fans on the final day of the campaign.
That is why West Brom needs to get the situation resolved immediately, allowing the new manager the entire summer transfer window to bring in the players they want to influence the team.
