Aston Villa legend shares huge blow verdict in West Brom next manager latest

West Brom are in the hunt for a new manager to replace Tony Mowbray, but they have been handed a blow in their search.

Mowbray was dismissed after an unsuccessful return to The Hawthorns following the departure of Carlos Corberan in the middle of the season.

West Brom fell out of the Championship play-off spots, and they will now seek out a manager who can help them push for promotion next season.

One name who has been linked is Marti Cifuentes, who will now leave Queens Park Rangers, and he is a manager who could have been a good fit for West Brom.

Lee Hendrie gives Cifuentes verdict

Cifuentes will now leave QPR, in a massive blow for the Hoops as he brought a positive impact to the Championship side.

Speaking to Football League World (29 April), Aston Villa legend Lee Hendrie claimed that losing the Spaniard be devastating for QPR.

“If it is that he is to leave the football club, it would be a blow for QPR,” Hendrie said.

“Yes it would be, because we have seen so many signs of potential from them this season, even with their limited squad, so you do feel he has done a remarkable job there.

“He is very well-liked at the football club. I have been to and done a few of their games this season and the fans have really got behind him – his way and his style of play.

Cifuentes not in running for West Brom job

Despite the Spaniard impressing at QPR and potentially making clubs higher up in the Championship such as West Brom interested, he will not be moving to The Hawthorns this summer.

It is reported that with Cifuentes on gardening leave at QPR, they will be expecting a compensation fee, but West Brom have now been ruled out of the race.

Cifuentes was on West Brom’s shortlist, but he will not be joining at this stage as the Baggies keep an eye on several managers across Europe, in order to see who is available to take over once the season ends.

The 42-year-old could have been a good option to make the step up to a side pushing for promotion, but West Brom now seemingly have their sights set elsewhere.
