West Brom next manager: Norwich City enter Marti Cifuentes race as odds emerge

Norwich City look set to challenge West Brom over the appointment of Marti Cifuentes.

The Spaniard has been placed on gardening leave at QPR as the chances of a move away from Loftus Road have picked up pace.

This has seen the Baggies be strongly linked with a swoop for the 42-year-old, who could be in line to replace Tony Mowbray at The Hawthorns.

This may have been dealt a blow in B71 as Norwich emerge as a potential destination for Cifuentes ahead of a new Championship season.

Norwich City in race for Cifuentes appointment

It appears that Albion have gone all in on the former Hammarby boss, who looks keen to depart Loftus Road at the end of the campaign.

This would bring a productive spell in Shepherd’s Bush to an end and would certainly represent a coup for the Black Country outfit.

With that being said, it may not be plain sailing to land Cifuentes despite consistent links to West Brom over the last few days.

This comes as Norwich City have also entered the race to bring in the Spanish head coach as their search for a boss goes on at Carrow Road.

The Canaries are in need of a head coach after parting ways with Johannes Hoff Thorup earlier in the month.

This has seen Cifuentes emerge at odds of 10/1 to take over at Norwich according to Gambling.com (30 April), giving him a 9.1 per cent chance of taking charge in Norfolk.

This places him ahead of the likes of Luke Williams and Liam Rosenior, who have also been linked with a move to the Baggies in recent weeks.

West Brom must ignore competition for Cifuentes

There is no doubt that the ex-AaB coach would represent an ideal alternative for Carlos Corberan after his winter exit to Valencia.

Mowbray just didn’t work and ultimately had to face the sack after the defeat against a relegation-threatened Derby County side at home.

As a result, Cifuentes coming in would make perfect sense, and the Baggies have a chance to bring him in after going on gardening leave.

Now the Albion have to ignore any interest from Norwich and make the Spaniard their man without any thought of Carrow Road.
