Furlong spotted at Loftus Road as West Brom insider shares QPR transfer update

Darnell Furlong has been spotted at Loftus Road amid QPR’s interest in signing him from West Brom.

The defender has been a key player for West Brom this season, making 42 appearances across all competitions and captaining the team on occasion.

However, Furlong now faces an uncertain future at The Hawthorns ahead of the summer, with QPR interested in re-signing him.

Talk WBA previously reported that the R’s have already enquired about signing the 29-year-old, having identified him as a replacement for Jimmy Dunne.

Furlong seen at Loftus Road as DOOD drops update

In a new twist of events, a photo of Furlong standing at what appears to be the QPR Superstore at Loftus Road has emerged on social media.

This has sparked further talk about the right-back ending his six-year stay at Albion to return to the London-based club this summer.

However, the said picture has nothing to do with Furlong potentially joining the R’s, according to DOOD.

The West Brom insider clarified via his personal X handle on Thursday (1 May) that the Englishman’s father, Paul Furlong, is the manager of the QPR Under-21s team.

Paul’s side booked their place in the Premier League Cup final with a 2-0 victory over Burnley Under-21s on Wednesday (30 April).

DOOD suggested that Furlong may have visited Loftus Road to watch the ‘important’ game.

While QPR remain interested in signing the West Brom star, they are yet to make a formal offer.

West Brom to let Furlong leave

It would not be a surprise if West Brom allowed Furlong to rejoin QPR this summer.

The Baggies are poised for big changes ahead of next season, with Shilen Patel and Co. focused on appointing a new manager after sacking Tony Mowbray.

Several players, including Grady Diangana, are heading towards the exit door at The Hawthorns, meaning there will be several personnel changes at Albion.

Therefore, the West Midlands outfit could also sanction an exit for Furlong to potentially bring in a younger right-back.
