West Brom-linked forward set for medical next week as contract agreed

West Brom are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements in the summer transfer window.

The Hawthorns outfit has struggled for goals and are set to miss out on a playoff place that looked theirs for a large majority of the campaign as a result.

They will remain in the Championship next season and dreams of promotion to the Premier League seem like a distant possibility at the moment.

The likes of Daryl Dike and Josh Maja have struggled with injuries and loan signings Adam Armstrong and Will Lankshear have failed to produce.

An update has emerged on one Baggies target ahead of the window opening, with a medical set and contract terms agreed upon.

Wales set for Swansea move despite West Brom interest

Albion had been linked with a move for Kilmarnock striker Bobby Wales, who has notched three goals and two assists in 25 Scottish Premiership matches.

However, a report from Sky Sports (1 May) claims that the 19-year-old is set to sign for second-tier rivals Swansea City on a pre-contract, with a £300,000 compensation fee.

It states that the Welsh club have agreed a four-year contract with the attacker and a medical is set for next week.

West Brom could regret missing out on Wales

The Baggies may regret not signing Wales if he comes good with the Swans immediately next season and takes the second-tier by storm.

The small compensation fee was worth the gamble as he has shown that he can score goals, with 12 on loan in Scottish League One with Alloa last campaign.

Albion may lose several of their current attacking options in the summer as interest and they could do with fresh impetus considering the struggles they have been going through in front of goal, which has seen them relinquish their potential promotion chances and Tony Mowbray depart.

Wales could have been a squad option while he develops before selling him on for a significant profit if he did not succeed in the West Midlands.

However, it seems like Patel and Co will have to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements after the latest update on Wales’ future, with Jamie Vardy a potential option.
