Derek McInnes ‘held in high regard’ as West Brom search for new manager
Derek McInnes could potentially be a candidate to become the next West Brom manager after Tony Mowbray was sacked.
The ex-Birmingham City boss was fired at The Hawthorns after failing to get the Baggies into the Championship play-offs.
Shilen Patel can’t waste time at the Albion and needs to hire a new manager soon to plan for the upcoming transfer window.
McInnes currently manages at Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership but may return to the West Midlands next summer.

West Brom looking at Scotland as McInnes appointment mooted
McInnes could potentially be a candidate for the managerial position at The Hawthorns, Keith Jackson says.
The Record journalist suggested that the Albion may look at Scotland for their next head coach, and mooted the Kilmarnock boss’ name.

Jackson expects the former Baggies midfielder to be highly regarded at the West Midlands outfit after captaining them to Premier League promotion during his playing days.
Speaking on Hotline Live (11 May), the Scottish journalist said: “The West Brom job is still available. [McInnes] is a big hero with the fans. He skippered them to promotion. They hold him in really high regard down there. And there have been one or two rumours that they may be looking north of the border.”

QPR boss Marti Cifuentes was being heavily linked with the Baggies, but it looks like he won’t be appointed.
James Morrison took interim charge at The Hawthorns after Mowbray’s sacking, and he’s now seen as the odds-on favourite to become the permanent manager.
Other candidates, such as Tottenham coach Ryan Mason and Portsmouth’s John Mousinho, have also been mentioned as possible new head coaches, but it remains to be seen who will be appointed.
McInnes’ reputation at West Brom during his playing days was high, and he’s gained a lot of experience as a manager over the years.
The 53-year-old had a relatively successful eight-year spell at Aberdeen, winning the Scottish League Cup in 2014, their first trophy in 19 years.
At Kilmarnock, the ex-midfielder led them from the second division to the first, leading them in Europe for the 2024/25 season.
With so many names being linked with the Baggies, it wouldn’t be surprising to see McInnes’ name being added to the list.
The managerial saga at The Hawthorns is undoubtedly one to watch, and some exciting times may be ahead for fans.
