James Morrison ‘shocked’ after what he did in West Brom legends v Birmingham
James Morrison donned the famous blue and white stripes once again as he represented West Brom legends at St Andrew’s on Sunday.
The charity clash against old foes, Birmingham City, helped to raise funds for the West Midlands clubs’ respective foundations.
Morrison lined up alongside Gareth Barry, Chris Brunt, and Rob Earnshaw as the legends defeated the Blues 2-1.

Morrison rolls back the years for West Brom legends
The 38-year-old is no stranger to the dugout at The Hawthorns, having been appointed interim manager for the final games of the season.
Morrison took over from Tony Mowbray in April after he failed to achieve a play-off finish with the Championship outfit.
He oversaw the final two games of the campaign, drawing with Cardiff City 0-0 before thumping Luton Town 5-3.
Date | Opponent | Result |
26 April | Cardiff City | 0-0 |
3 May | Luton Town | 5-3 |
However, the former midfielder took the plaudits on the pitch for the Baggies’ legends side with a firm finish into the bottom corner in the 55th minute.
The Albion Foundation posted a humorous message on X alongside a photograph of Morrison holding his head.
The post said (11 May): “Fair to say, Mozza’s more shocked at his winner than we are.”
West Brom must get managerial appointment spot on
West Brom have had time to consider the next managerial appointment since Mowbray was sacked, but no appointment has been made.
Morrison is among the contenders to land the job permanently, but his lack of managerial experience may stand against him.
Portsmouth’s John Mousinho was joint-favourite for the job at one point but has since distanced himself from the role.
Pompey’s boss has done a stellar job on the South Coast, and links with the Baggies are a compliment to the work he has done.
However, luring him away from Fratton Park will be a difficult task, and it appears he is settled at his current employer.
Minnesota United coach Eric Ramsay is another coach in the running for the vacant position, having impressed in his first managerial role.
While the Baggies are right to take their time over such a key decision, they must press on so they can prepare for the following season.
