West Brom hero confirms official agreement for new manager job
West Brom’s search for a new manager continues.
Tony Mowbray was sacked on Easter Monday (21 April) after a run of just five wins in 18 matches left Albion’s playoff chances in tatters.
James Morrison oversaw the final stages of the campaign, but a full-time replacement will need to be identified within the next few weeks.

Derek McInnes set for Hearts switch
One man who will not be in the dugout at The Hawthorns is former captain McInnes, as he looks set to bag a new job which will see him remain in Scotland.
The Scot, who made 96 appearances for the Baggies between 2000-2003, is set to leave his role at Kilmarnock and take over the reins at Hearts.
A report from PLZ Soccer (13 May) claims that the Jam Tarts have agreed terms with Killie for the ex-Albion ace to move to Tynecastle.
West Brom need to get next appointment right
Shilen Patel needs to get the next managerial appointment in the Black Country right, otherwise the Baggies promotion ambitions will not be realised anytime soon.
John Mousinho and Eric Ramsay have been strongly linked with the vacancy, but there are doubts over both of their abilities to take the West Midlands outfit forward.
Manager | Odds |
Ryan Mason | 1/2 |
James Morrison | 6/4 |
John Mousinho | 3/1 |
Eric Ramsay | 4/1 |
Daily Record journalist Keith Jackson had suggested that McInnes could be the next in line for the role that Mowbray departed towards the end of the season, however, that seems unlikely given the agreement between the two Scottish sides.
The 53-year-old would have been a solid appointment, he would already have the connection with supporters, given that he captained the club to promotion and he also has significant managerial success.
He led Aberdeen to their first trophy in 19 years with the Scottish League Cup in 2014 and brought Killie from the second tier to the Scottish Premiership, before guiding them into Europe.
There is no room for mistakes this time around, if the Baggies are to become a Premier League club, they need the right person at the helm and McInnes would have fit the bill, a lot more than the likes of Mousinho and Ramsay.
