Wrexham could put West Brom to shame after multi-million Tom Cairney transfer news
West Brom are planning for another season in the Championship after missing out on the play-offs, and Wrexham will now join them.
West Brom saw their season fall apart in the last few months, which ultimately led to them sacrificing a top-six place, but they will still hope to push for promotion next season.
Wrexham, meanwhile, secured their third promotion in as many seasons as they came up from League One, and they will compete in the Championship, their highest division in the pyramid since 1979.
The Baggies will now aim to strengthen their squad in the summer, but Wrexham could now embarrass them in the transfer window.

Wrexham make huge offer for Tom Cairney
West Brom could do with adding experience to their midfield, and Fulham captain Tom Cairney could have been an excellent signing.
Cairney is out of contract at the end of the season, and the 34-year-old could have been an astute pickup on a free transfer.
However, it has now been reported by talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook that Wrexham are ready to make an astonishing offer to Cairney.
Stat | Cairney |
Appearances | 318 |
Goals | 45 |
Assists | 51 |
Wrexham are looking at an offer to Cairney which could see him earn £50,000 per week, potentially making him the highest earner in their history.
Wrexham outmuscle West Brom in transfer market
Given that West Brom were an established Premier League side for years, they should be one of the bigger clubs in the Championship when it comes to spending power.
However, Wrexham in their first season in the Championship, look set to outspend the Baggies and a lot of their competitors, and offering huge wages could see them poach a lot of targets.
If Cairney does move to Wrexham for an annual salary of £2.6million, this wage would likely dwarf most of the Baggies squad, with well-documented financial trouble in recent years.
West Brom owner Shilen Patel does have big ambitions for the West Midlands club, but they will need to show their ambition in the transfer window to stay competitive.
Wrexham being a more attractive destination, be it through wages or other factors, would embarrass West Brom, and it would make their summer transfer business a lot more difficult given this surprise competitor in the market.
