Liverpool bring up painful memory for West Brom fans in video clip
West Brom fans have not had much to cheer about in recent seasons at The Hawthorns.
The Baggies fanbase had to witness another failed campaign this season as they finished ninth, four points off the play-offs.
As a result, Tony Mowbray was sacked by West Brom, and the search for a new manager goes on.
However, fans have now been reminded of a painful memory by Liverpool as Alisson’s goal against the Baggies reaches its four-year anniversary.

Liverpool celebrate four years since Alisson’s winner against West Brom
West Brom’s last Premier League campaign was full of bad memories.
While the Baggies did manage to get four points off Wolves, including an incredible 3-2 comeback as West Brom won at Molineux, it was a terrible season.
The 2020/21 campaign saw West Brom pick up just 26 points, as they finished 19th, 13 points from safety.
Position | Team | Points | Goal difference |
17th | Burnley | 39 | -22 |
18th | Fulham | 28 | -26 |
19th | West Brom | 26 | -41 |
20th | Sheffield United | 23 | -43 |
One of the more painful memories was the match against Liverpool at The Hawthorns.
West Brom had actually taken the lead against the Reds, and were set for a rare three points.
However, Mohamed Salah levelled the scoreline before goalkeeper Alisson scored a last-gasp winner in added time.
Liverpool were quick to remind fans about the match, as they posted a video on X (16 May) of the winner to mark the four-year anniversary.
West Brom need a new Premier League campaign to forget painful memories
When looking back on the 2020/21 campaign, one of the most painful aspects is that it is the Baggies’ last in the top-flight.
Since then, West Brom have failed to get promoted on numerous occasions, and this season, they couldn’t even get into the play-offs.
What is needed to forget the 2020/21 campaign is another year in the Premier League, where the Black Country club has a successful season.
Luckily, as relayed by Liverpool News (7 March), Alisson is likely to depart Liverpool, meaning his heroics against the Baggies won’t be repeated again – should they ever get back in the Premier League any time soon.
Hopefully, whoever comes into West Brom can finally get the West Midlands outfit promoted and end their five-year absence from the Premier League.
