West Brom prepare for Furlong sale in surprise Aston Villa transfer twist
West Brom face a critical summer if they are to build on what was the season that got away at The Hawthorns.
At the start of the campaign, Carlos Corberan guided the Baggies towards the top of the table, but their form plummeted over time.
The West Midlands club are currently without a manager, having sacked Tony Mowbray, and must get their next appointment spot on.
Darnell Furlong is a player who could depart The Hawthorns and is wanted by Championship rivals QPR.

West Brom show interest in Villa youngster Kesler-Hayden
West Brom’s immediate priority must be landing a new manager, having lost two in the space of a season.
James Morrison was the man drafted in to take temporary charge after both Corberan and Mowbray left their posts.
Manager | Games | Won | Drew | Lost | Points |
Carlos Corberan | 22 | 8 | 11 | 3 | 35 |
Tony Mowbray | 17 | 5 | 4 | 8 | 19 |
James Morrison | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 4 |
Several names have been linked with the post, but there has been no official announcement on an appointment.
Despite the uncertainty, the West Midlands club appear to be pressing on with plans involving their own players.
With Furlong’s departure looking increasingly likely, the Baggies will need to target a replacement at left-back.
One of those targets is Villa’s Kaine Kesler-Hayden, who is also wanted by Southampton, according to Birmingham World [16 May].
The left-back has reportedly been transfer-listed by the Villans and has Championship experience with Preston North End.

Kesler-Hayden would be a good signing for West Brom
A mass overhaul is not necessarily needed at the Hawthorns, but they must add quality if they are to fulfil their promotion ambitions.
West Brom are set to embark on their fifth season out of the Premier League, but are a club worthy of being in the top flight.
Getting their summer signings right will play a definitive factor next season, and Kesler-Hayden would be a promising start.
Kesler-Hayden made 44 appearances for Preston as they slipped towards a near-relegation in the Championship.
The 22-year-old chimed in with five goal contributions and put in a host of solid performances for Paul Heckingbottom’s side.
West Brom have a lot of work to do this summer, but get it right, and they will be in the promotion mix.
