Okay Yokuslu reacts as West Brom star leaves The Hawthorns

Okay Yokuslu posted a message of support for his former West Brom teammate Semi Ajayi

The Baggies recently announced on their retained and released list that defender Ajayi would leave the club after his contract expires.

The Nigerian has been a key part of the West Brom backline for the past six seasons and has enjoyed many memorable moments at the club.

Ajayi was a pivotal member of the Albion side that won promotion to the Premier League. He featured 43 times in the 2019/2020 campaign and chipped in with five goals.

Another memorable highlight of the 31-year-old’s Albion career was his goal in the Black Country derby win over Wolves in 2021.

But injury troubles have plagued Ajayi as of late and limited his involvement in recent campaigns.

Ajayi took to Instagram to post a classy departing message to his now former club:

“West Bromwich Albion will always hold a special place in my heart, and the memories we’ve shared will stay with me for a lifetime. I sincerely wish everyone connected to the club all the very best for the future.”

Underneath this heartfelt message, ex-Albion star Yokuslu reacted to Ajayi’s departure from the club:

“All the best bro!”

The Turkish midfielder was Ajayi’s teammate for three seasons, from 2020 until 2024. This spanned the Baggies’ season back in the Premier League as well as two following seasons in the Championship following their relegation.

Yokuslu was then sold to Trabzonspor with just a year remaining on his contract.

Ajayi is just one of many to depart

Ajayi is not the only notable name to be released by the club in the summer.

Grady Diangana and John Swift are also set to leave following their disappointing performances this season.

While Albion’s search for a manager continues, whoever takes over will have to ensure that they recruit wisely over the summer if they want to challenge for the play-offs again.

The Baggies looked set to be in the play-offs again at points this season.

However, their capitulation at the backend of the season under Tony Mowbray means full-scale changes are needed at the club if the West Midlands outfit want to return to the Premier League.
