Ben Foster sends message as ex-West Brom star leaves EFL coaching role
West Brom are still in the process of recruiting a new manager, after parting ways with Tony Mowbray at the end of last season.
After replacing Carlos Corberan, Mowbray’s tenure at The Hawthorns did not go to plan, with the Baggies slipping out of the play-off positions.
Shilen Patel wasted no time in parting ways with Mowbray after the disappointment the end of the season brought, although the chief has taken some time when it comes to finding a replacement.

Ben Foster sends message to former West Brom man as change announced
West Brom may not have any movement when it comes to the managerial vacancy just yet, but several other sides in the Championship are starting to make progress with their own appointments.
Although Albion will have felt justified in their decision to make a change at the end of the season, one side who have come under criticism for their decision is Watford.
Team | Position | Goal Difference | Points |
West Brom | 9 | 10 | 64 |
Watford | 14 | -8 | 57 |
After finishing 14th in the Championship table, the Hornets made the call to part ways with Tom Cleverley, having since appointed Paulo Pezzolano in his place.
The change at Vicarage Road has now prompted behind-the-scenes movement, too, with former West Brom left-back Paul Robinson leaving the Hornets, having worked with the second-tier outfit since October.
Robinson took to Instagram (25 May) to announce his exit, and Foster was eager to send his support as he commented: “You’re the man, Robbo.”
West Brom have to press on with their own announcement
Supporters at West Brom will be glad that Patel is taking a considered approach when it comes to appointing a new manager, but with the saga having gone on for some time now, there will be worries that the chief doesn’t know what he wants to do.
Ryan Mason has been linked with the role at The Hawthorns throughout the search and that seems to be ramping up with Mason weighing up the possibility of leaving Tottenham.
The summer transfer window will soon be open, and the Baggies need to be ready to get to work at strengthening the squad in preparation for next season.
Therefore, Patel needs to crack on with his decision and know that, should Mason choose the move isn’t for him, there is another option waiting in the wings.
