Ryan Mason to make final West Brom manager call within days at Tottenham
Ryan Mason could be set to take his first steps into senior management with West Brom.
Mason has emerged as the front-runner for the role after an extensive search since Tony Mowbray was sacked back in April.
West Brom are looking for a manager who can guide them to promotion as part of a long-term project, and they have identified the 35-year-old as their main target.
However, it remains unclear whether the Tottenham assistant wants to take the role just yet, with a final decision coming within days.

Mason to decide on West Brom job soon
West Brom need to appoint their new manager soon, after over a month of deliberating, but it is clear that they want Mason over any other candidate.
Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has now revealed that Mason is expected to decide his future by the start of next week at Tottenham or West Brom.
Mason’s contract as Spurs assistant runs out next month, and with Ange Postecoglou’s future unclear, he could leave for the Baggies.
Mason a risky appointment for West Brom
Mason’s decision may come down to whether he thinks he is ready to step up to become a head coach at this stage in his career.
Although he has been an assistant and coach at Tottenham for some time after his playing career was prematurely ended by injury, Mason has never held a permanent head coach role outside of two interim spells at Tottenham.
Season | League | Position |
2021-22 | Championship | 10th |
2022-23 | Championship | 9th |
2023-24 | Championship | 5th |
2024-25 | Championship | 9th |
For West Brom, it is certainly a risk to hire a coach with such little experience to his name, but it could be a gamble that pays off if he can bring fresh ideas and help the squad recover from a woeful second half of the season under Mowbray.
The Championship is unforgiving if you get stuck there, and with so many clubs looking for new managers this summer, it could be an even playing field pushing for promotion next season.
