Rangers announce Ibrox exit for West Brom-linked defender

West Brom head of recruitment Ian Pearce is in the market for a defender this summer as they look to make they look to mount another promotion push.

The 2024/25 season was a failure for the Baggies as they missed out on the play-offs.

As a result, Tony Mowbray was sacked by West Brom, with the Black Country club still searching for a new manager.

However, this has not stopped the Baggies from being active in the transfer market. West Brom have been linked with Gora Diouf as they look to improve their backline.

Now, they have received a boost from Rangers in their pursuit to improve their squad.

West Brom target Adam Devine to become free agent after Rangers exit

Adam Devine was linked to West Brom in January as they looked to reinforce the squad.

The defender struggled to break into the first team at Rangers and spent 2025 on loan to Scottish Championship side Queen’s Park.

Now, as confirmed on Rangers’ official website (30 May), the right-back is set to leave Ibrox this summer at the end of his contract.

The 21-year-old made 11 first-team appearances at the Gers throughout his stay and helped the Glasgow club win the Scottish Cup last season.

Now, Devine is set to become a free agent this summer.

Devine unlikely to be good enough for the Championship

While Devine has plenty of potential, it is unlikely he would be able to compete for a place in West Brom’s squad.

The 21-year-old has barely featured in the Scottish Premiership, which is considered a dip in quality compared to the English second-tier.

With the Baggies having aspirations of Premier League football, it is difficult to see where Devine would fit in with West Brom’s long-term plan.

While a defender is certainly needed at The Hawthorns this summer, hopefully, the Black Country club look elsewhere.
