West Brom news round-up: Patel lines up appointment, Simonis jets in for talks

West Brom are moving into the summer window and are currently without a head coach.

There is a huge need for a new manager in the Black Country, with talks continuing on as options are assessed by Bilkul Football WBA.

This has seen many names be linked to the role, but Ryan Mason continues to remain in the running as uncertainty surrounds Premier League outfit Tottenham.

The recruitment process continues to bubble under the surface at The Hawthorns as transfer rumours continue to take a hold.

Carlos Corberan could become Tottenham manager

With Mason potentially set for a move to the Albion, it also looks to be a period of change for Lilywhites boss, Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian could be in line to lose his job despite lifting the Europa League with a 1-0 win against Manchester United in the final.

With Daniel Levy edging towards an exit for the ex-Celtic man, a number of options have been assessed, with former West Brom man Corberan emerging in the running.

The Spaniard has emerged as the second favourite for the role with odds of 7/2 [BetVictor, 1 June] after a successful stint at Valencia in LaLiga.

The 42-year-old comes in with shorter odds than the likes of Oliver Glasner, Xavi and Marco Silva to take over from Postecoglou, if he is to face the sack.

Mason set to leave Tottenham for West Brom

It has been a lengthy process in the Midlands, but it finally feels as if the Baggies are edging closer to finally naming their new head coach.

That looks likely to be Mason as he looks set to kickstart his managerial career after many years as a coach in North London.

With that in mind, The Telegraph reported on Saturday (31 May) that the 33-year-old will soon leave his role at Tottenham in the coming weeks.

This will allow him to take up the vacant role in B71 and allow Shilen Patel and Andrew Nestor to rest after weeks of tireless work towards finding a new manager.

Paul Simonis jets in for West Brom talks

It appears that Mason is the man that the Baggies want to take them forward, but as that saga goes on, hopes of an appointment fall away.

As a result, other options are still being weighed up by Patel and Co. in case of a failed move for the Tottenham coach.

This has seen interest in Simonis be maintained, as the Dutchman has flown into England for talks with at The Hawthorns, according to Dutch outlet Transfer Inside NL.

There is concrete interest there from the Midlands outfit in the Dutchman, although talks continue to persist with Mason moving deeper into this recruitment process.
