Shilen Patel sends message as Ryan Mason appointment confirmed at West Brom
West Brom have announced the appointment of Ryan Mason as their new manager.
After sacking Tony Mowbray at the end of the season, Shilen Patel has taken his time mulling over a new West Brom appointment.
Mason was linked with a move to The Hawthorns for some time, although after talks finally got underway, the 33-year-old agreed on a three-year contract.

Patel welcomes Mason to West Brom
After being forced into early retirement from football due to an injury to his skull, Mason has been working his way up in coaching ever since.
At 33, he will be one of the youngest managers in the Championship, but the experience he has built up during his time at Tottenham will certainly be a help.
Mason has been assistant manager to Ange Postecoglou, but has chosen now as the right time to take his venture into management.
The former midfielder has had two short stints as interim boss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having taken over from Jose Mourinho and then Christian Stellini.

As he steps into his new venture, Patel was eager to welcome Mason and his staff to Black Country as he posted on X (2 June): “Welcome Ryan Mason, Nigel Gibbs, and Sam Pooley to The Albion.
“Come on, you Baggies.”
West Brom can make use of Mason connections
Now that Patel has appointed a manager at The Hawthorns, there is plenty more work to be done.
The ambitions for next season will certainly be fighting for a place in the Premier League, with the gap only widening between the divisions.
However, there will have to be several additions to the squad to achieve this aim.
While Patel has got the Baggies into a much more stable position when it comes to PSR, the owner will be wary about regulations that have to be followed and therefore, business will have to be measured.
The Albion could make use of the loan market, though, especially with Mason’s connections to Tottenham.
Mikey Moore has already been linked with a move to The Hawthorns, following the new manager from north London.
But Josh Keeley could also be looking for a new challenge this summer and Spurs will surely be keen to strike a trusted relationship with the Baggies to benefit all parties.
It’s set to be a huge summer.
