West Brom transfer news: Chairman blasts selfish agent as Baggies signing lined up

West Brom are set to finally make moves in the transfer market now that Ryan Mason has been confirmed as the new Baggies manager.

The Baggies have already lost numerous players who need replacing in their retained list.

If West Brom are aiming to reach the Premier League, a big summer is no doubt needed.

The Hawthorns club have already been linked to numerous stars as the rumours now begin to heat up after Mason’s appointment.

FC Sion chairman blasts agent of West Brom-linked Gora Diouf

Gora Diouf has been linked to West Brom after impressing in Switzerland this season.

The defender’s contract is set to expire this summer, which has prompted increased interest from European clubs.

Sheffield United are said to be interested in Diouf as the Baggies look to win the race for the defender.

Diouf is seen as a highly promising upcoming defender

However, the FC Sion chairman is far from happy that he has seen one of his star players leave the Swiss Super League club for nothing.

According to Swiss newspaper Blick, page 13 (6 June), Diouf was offered a new contract which he turned down.

The FC Sion chairman then proceeded to slam the defender’s agent for being selfish.

Christian Constantin said: “That’s business, when agents think more about themselves than of youngsters. At least there’s the training compensation.”

West Brom chairman Shilen Patel points his finger.
Shilen Patel has proven popular with West Brom fans since his takeover.

Diouf unlikely to sign for West Brom

As good as Diouf may be, it is difficult to see him in a Baggies shirt next season.

The 21-year-old is linked to multiple clubs outside of England, including Swiss Super League champions Basel and Ligue 1 side Toulouse.

On top of this, it is unlikely that Diouf will get a work permit in England, given the strict requirements after Brexit.

However, only time will tell if the Baggies are able to get the signing of the youngster over the line.
