West Brom on verge of first summer transfer as Shankland talks update shared
West Brom confirmed the appointment of Ryan Mason this week and are now set to announce their first summer signing.
Mason’s appointment at The Hawthorns ended weeks of speculation over who would replace Tony Mowbray, who was sacked in late April.
A number of players have since been linked with a move to Albion, but no arrivals have yet been announced by Mason‘s men.
However, that could soon be about to change after an update that has emerged regarding Hearts forward Lawrence Shankland.

Shankland set to join West Brom
Shankland is one of many names to have been touted as a summer transfer target for West Brom over the past few weeks.
Hearts had hoped to convince Shankland to sign a new deal at Tynecastle, but that does not appear to have been successful.
In an update shared by DOOD via X on Saturday (7 June), talks between West Brom and Shankland have gone well and the Scotland international is close to agreeing a move.
While there is nothing official at this stage, all signs point towards an agreement between the player and club being struck.
West Brom’s recruitment team are said to be big fans of Shankland, despite the versatile attacker not enjoying the best of seasons last time out.
What is Shankland’s goalscoring record for Hearts?
Shankland scored seven goals and assisted eight more in 32 Scottish Premiership outings for Hearts in 2024-25.
That is a more-than-respectable return, albeit massively down on his 24 goals and four assists in 37 appearances in the competition the season before.
Matches Played | 32 |
Minutes Played | 2,573 |
Goals and Assists | 16 |
Pass Accuracy | 70.7% |
All in all, Shankland has scored 67 goals in 136 games for Hearts in all competitions, six of those strikes coming in European competition.
Shankland has proven pedigree at Hearts and even boasts European experience, so landing a player of his calibre on a free transfer can be considered a real coup.
The hope now, of course, is that Shankland is the first of many new faces through the doors at The Hawthorns.
