West Brom finances claim emerges amid Jed Wallace exit development

Jed Wallace has struggled for game time at West Brom, making just six league starts in the 2024/25 campaign.

The English winger has been an important presence at The Hawthorns, with his leadership playing a key role behind the scenes.

However, his on-pitch contributions have been minuscule, with him playing under 800 minutes this past season.

Wallace exit on the cards for the right transfer fee this summer

Express & Star journalist Lewis Cox claims that with the 31-year-old, it’s “obvious” that an exit is on the cards this summer.

Wallace is also on big wages at West Brom, so a move away would benefit the club.

It’s also said to benefit the winger as he would want regular game time and that’s unlikely to happen at the West Midlands outfit next season.

Cox said: “With Jed Wallace, it’s a pretty obvious one.

“It’s been tough for him for 18 months. He hasn’t had the starts. He’s a long-serving, well-respected member of the squad, a big earner as well because of the contract he came in on from Millwall three years ago.

“It suits, potentially, all parties, if something’s done. Jed, I’m sure, at his age, captain, leader, would want to play regular football.

“It will take suitable interest and suitable figures and approach and finances for that to go through.”

West Brom must cash in on Wallace this summer

West Brom must consider selling Wallace this summer as his contract, set to expire in June 2026, leaves the club at risk of losing him for free if no new deal is secured.

The club captain earns a significant portion of the club’s weekly wage bill, which does not reflect his importance on the pitch.

Removing Wallace’s wages would ease financial pressures under the EFL Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), especially after the club’s recent business plan imposition.

This freed-up capital could fund cost-effective signings, such as free agents or low-cost talents to bolster Ryan Mason’s squad for a promotion push.

With Wallace’s 529 career appearances, 86 goals and 78 assists, a transfer fee could further support squad investment, ensuring long-term competitiveness.
