West Brom transfer demand emerges for Heggem as Serie A club eye deal

West Brom are expected to lose key players in the transfer window this summer with Torbjorn Heggem among those attracting interest.

The Baggies are set to shake things up ahead of the new season as they aim to muscle their way into play-off contention.

Ryan Mason is about to undertake his first full-time managerial role, and familiar faces who failed to impress last campaign have been released.

However, the likes of Grady Diangana and John Swift may not be the only players to leave the Albion in the summer.

Heggem’s signature being chased by multiple clubs

Central defence is likely a position Mason will look to recruit in during the upcoming window, particularly when you consider that Semi Ajayi was one of the players not to have his contract renewed.

However, with reports from notable West Brom account ‘DOOD’ on X (10 June) claiming that eight clubs are keeping tabs on Heggem, Albion may have to urgently invest in the heart of their defence.

Bologna are said to be one of the eight clubs interested in the Norwegian defender, with West Brom holding out for a fee around the £10million mark, according to the Albion news source.

With other key players, such as Josh Maja, also attracting interest from elsewhere, according to DOOD, it may be difficult for West Brom to keep all of their most valuable assets at The Hawthorns next season.

While the appointment of a young manager can bring excitement, Mason’s lack of experience also brings uncertainty, and this could be something on some of the West Brom players’ minds.

West Brom should sell Maja instead of Heggem

If West Brom have to sell either Maja or Heggem, selling Maja may be the better option.

With a deal for Scottish striker Lawrence Shankland edging ever closer and Daryl Dike ending the season on a positive note and appearing to be injury-free, West Brom will have options up front next season.

Finding a replacement for the Norwegian international Heggem, on the other hand, who can also fill in at full-back, could prove to be a harder task for the recruitment team.
