Brentford in talks to make ex-West Brom midfielder their new manager

Brentford have begun searching for a new manager with Thomas Frank set to depart West London.

Frank is expected to leave the Gtech Community Stadium to take the vacant head coach role at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 51-year-old will replace Ange Postecoglou after his sacking last week, whilst also planning to bring some of his backroom staff with him after Ryan Mason was named Baggies head coach.

The Bees are assessing their options to replace the Dane, and a shock name has held talks with the Brentford hierarchy.

Keith Andrews in talks to replace Thomas Frank at Brentford

The West London club have met with several candidates so far, with early favourite Justin Cochrane now out of the running after following Frank to Spurs.

The Secret Scout has reported that former Baggies midfielder Keith Andrews has held talks over becoming the Bees’ new head coach.

The Irishman is currently Brentford’s set-piece coach, having previously been assistant manager at Milton Keynes Dons and the Republic of Ireland.

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna has also notably held talks with the Bees.

Andrews, 44, spent just six months at The Hawthorns in 2012, scoring twice in 14 Premier League appearances.

His most notable moment in a West Brom shirt was scoring on his debut to help the Baggies to a famous 5-1 victory at rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Andrews could become next great young manager after his work at Brentford

Andrews may be a risk at Brentford, but the praise the ex-West Brom man has received while at the Gtech has been promising.

After a rocky start in coaching and a spell in the media, where he regularly commented on affairs at The Hawthorns during Championship coverage, the ex-midfielder joined the Bees in July 2024.

Andrews immediately got to work, creating a new kick-off routine which led to Brentford scoring in the first minute in three successive games, a Premier League record.

The West London side were also one of the best sides from set-pieces, with only Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa bettering the Bees’ 13 goals.

The Irishman clearly has put his stamp on this Brentford side in one department, and if he is given the top job, could easily get a talented Bees side rolling fairly seamlessly.
