West Brom’s Championship promotion rivals on brink of shock manager exit

West Brom could be set for a boost in the Championship promotion race.

The Baggies will be confident of pushing up the second-tier table in the upcoming campaign after a disappointing end last time around.

Although Ryan Mason may be an unknown quantity, there are still a number of quality players available in the Englishman’s squad at The Hawthorns.

Now, the chances of him earning a place in the Premier League in his debut year may have been handed a boost in B71 after a managerial update elsewhere.

West Brom rivals in managerial uncertainty

As the summer window comes over the horizon in the West Midlands, there is likely to be a number of high-profile changes throughout the Championship.

This has already been the case at the Albion with a new manager coming in, while Grady Diangana, Semi Ajayi and John Swift are departing at the end of their contracts.

Despite the worry that this level of alteration could cause, at least Shilen Patel and Co. got everything in order, nice and early.

This doesn’t appear to be the case at Sheffield United, where Chris Wilder could face an exit after losing in the play-off final against Sunderland.

Journalist for The Independent, Miguel Delaney, has reported via X (12 June) that recruitment and other issues could see the Englishman leave Bramall Lane this summer.

As much of a blow as this could prove to be for the Blades, this could work to the advantage of Mason and the Albion in the coming months.

There are always bound to be issues surrounding a club when missing out on Premier League football after a play-off defeat.

This is especially the case after conceding in the final minutes at Wembley, having had a goal ruled out to go 2-0 up in the first half.

As a result, it may come as little surprise to many that Wilder is set to depart, especially after falling out with the Blades’ hierarchy once again.

Mason could reap the benefits of this potential exit as he looks to push his side back up into the top six by the end of the upcoming season.
