‘Caleb Taylor set for exit’ as ‘excellent’ loan development emerges at West Brom

Caleb Taylor could be depart West Brom on another loan deal this summer.

The 22-year-old has already spent three separate stints away from the Baggies on temporary deals to help build up his experience.

This has most recently seen him join League One side Wycombe Wanderers, where the Chairboys narrowly missed out in promotion to the Championship.

The failure to rise up to the second tier marked the return of Taylor to The Hawthorns, a move which could be short lived as another loan could now be lined up.

Taylor destined for West Brom exit amid loan update

There is a busy summer lined up in the Black Country, especially after the addition of Ryan Mason as the new head coach in B71.

The Englishman is bound to want to put a stamp on his new side after completing a move from Tottenham, in his first permanent managerial role.

This is likely to start with the defensive line, especially after The Hawthorns departure of Semi Ajayi at the end of his contract, after six years with the Albion.

As a result, it is little surprise that fresh targets are being put forward, with Lee Hendrie naming Nat Phillips as a loan target to Football League World (14 June).

He said: “West Brom, I think this is where they’re going to have to recruit well in the loan market. I think centre-back Phillips would be a good signing for them.

“Having someone physical and having someone who’s got a presence in defence – I think they’ve always had that.

“I think a good potential signing for sure. Whether they play as a back four or back three, he can fit in and be that presence at the back. So yes, I think he’d be a good addition to West Brom for next season.”

If the Liverpool man is to complete a temporary switch of his own to the Baggies, it feels likely that Taylor will be on the way out, potentially on a loan deal of his own.

Phillips to replace Taylor at West Brom

It would certainly represent a positive piece of business to bring in a defender with the experience of Phillips, especially after three spells in the Championship.

This makes him an ideal candidate to take over from Ajayi and potentially line up alongside Torbjorn Heggem in the backline next season.

Although it would prove to be a blow for Taylor, sometimes risks have to be taken with the hope of earning promotion next season.

Ultimately, the decision will be down to Mason, who will likely have the backing of Shilen Patel and Co. regardless of what he wants to do.
