‘Ousmane Diakite to become next West Brom star’ with Ryan Mason to love him
Ousamane Diakite has had a mixed start to his West Brom career since he joined the Black Country club last summer.
The 24-year-old only made a handful of appearances at The Hawthorns and was mainly seen on the bench under Carlos Corberan and Tony Mowbray.
When Diakite did play, he was often poor, in what was a difficult first year in England.
Now, Ryan Mason will be aiming to get the best out of the midfielder going into the 2025/26 campaign.

Mason backed to get the best out of Diakite
Mason no doubt has a tricky summer ahead of him after landing the West Brom job.
The former Tottenham assistant coach will be looking to guide the Baggies back to the Premier League, with playoffs expected this season.
However, this will be a big ask after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign that saw Mowbray sacked.
Diakite was one of many players to underperform, but he has been backed to be a star under his new manager.

Tactics expert, Invert The Wing, recently took to X (22 June) to assess West Brom’s upcoming season.
In their thread, they believed that Diakite would be “loved” by Mason, given the Englishman’s style of play and could become West Brom’s next star.
They said: “One thing I will say, wow, he will love Ousmane Diakite. His energy, athleticism, and pace is brilliant for that double pivot role out of possession.
“Winning the ball back in the middle of the pitch and circulating possession to others.
“He needs a tad bit improvement on the ball, but besides Mowatt, I think they will complement each other very, very nicely.”
West Brom’s stars need to up their game next season
There were few West Brom players who could come away from the last campaign with their heads held high after the disappointment of the final few months.
The collapse under Mowbray in the final weeks to fall out of the playoffs was nothing short of embarrassing in what could have been a memorable season.
Now that Mason is in, many of the Baggies’ stars need to step up their game if the Black Country club is going to succeed.
While signings are likely this summer, the Englishman is still going to be relying on the core of his squad to perform.
If not, Mason must be ruthless and get rid of underperformers, as West Brom cannot afford to sit in the Championship for much longer.
Diakite must take this as the chance he has been crying out for.
