West Brom figure speaks out as Nat Phillips signing confirmed

West Brom have now confirmed the signing of Liverpool outcast Nat Phillips, the first arrival in what promises to be a busy summer window.

Phillips arrives at The Hawthorns after spending last season on loan at Derby County, and the Baggies swooped in quickly to snap him up.

West Brom will be eager to strengthen their defence, and they have now secured a player who featured in the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool in recent years.

With the signing now confirmed, one leading West Brom figure has spoken out over the deal and highlighted the qualities Phillips can bring to The Hawthorns.

Speaking via West Brom’s official website (23 June), Nestor praised the centre-back and highlighted the importance of Phillips’ experience.

“We are really pleased to welcome Nat to The Hawthorns,” Nestor said.

“He has valuable experience as he knows the division well, has also competed at a top club like Liverpool and in leagues outside of England.

“Nat will bolster an already strong back line and brings with him leadership qualities, which really stood out for us. We believe he is entering his peak years as a centre-back, and hope to see him develop even further with us here as a player and leader within our group.”

West Brom aiming to strengthen squad

West Brom fans will hope that the signing of Phillips is just the start of a productive summer window in which all areas of the squad are addressed.

Phillips could be a shrewd pickup for the Baggies, having impressed on loan at Derby County last season, and is arriving with plenty of experience in his prime years.

Mason is clearly keen to bring in Championship-ready players as he aims for promotion, and the midfield and front line will also need strengthening.

Karlan Grant is attracting transfer interest, and should he leave, West Brom could recoup the fee they spent on Phillips, as well as invest in a potential upgrade upfront.
