West Brom fans worried as ‘awful’ news emerges on Sheffield Wednesday ace Bannan
West Brom have finally made their first signing of the summer as Nat Phillips has joined from Liverpool, and they are active in terms of finding more players.
Ryan Mason insisted on a move for Phillips, who has joined on a deal which could reach £3million, and the Baggies’ business will not stop there.
West Brom are aiming to strengthen several areas of the squad including the midfield, but a surprise name has now been linked.
Sheffield Wednesday veteran Barry Bannan is now reportedly being targeted by West Brom, and fans are baffled by this rumour given his age.

West Brom fans question Bannan transfer interest
West Brom have reportedly made an offer for Bannan, who is out of contract at fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday this summer.
It appears that Ryan Mason is keen on adding experience to his squad, but West Brom fans are in disbelief that a 35-year-old is being targeted as a means of improving the team.
Many have now slammed the links, with one adding that they are “worried” about the links, as younger players should be targeted instead.
Bannan targeted for leadership
Bannan is Sheffield Wednesday’s captain, and despite his age, he started 40 Championship games last season, showing that his fitness levels are still good enough to compete in the second division.
The midfielder could be an influential member of the dressing room, as well as a player ready to compete for a starting spot, but it is easy to see why fans are sceptical.
Signing ageing players on short-term deals does not bode well for the future, and while Bannan may provide a lot of experience, he may only arrive to spend a year at The Hawthorns, which goes against the idea of a long-term plan under Mason.
