‘Shankland rejects Hearts new contract’ as door opens for West Brom deal
West Brom look to have been handed a huge opportunity to complete the signing of Lawrence Shankland.
The Hearts striker has been a prolific goalscorer over the years in the Scottish Premiership, and that has understandably resulted in plenty of interest this summer with his contract due to expire.
West Brom have a contract offer on the table for Shankland, but they also have offers to contend with from elsewhere if they want to bring him to The Hawthorns.
Another dimension has been provided to the race for the frontman in recent weeks, as the Scottish side have been doing everything they can to keep hold of their star man.

Shankland has rejected a new deal at Hearts
Hearts boss Derek MacInnis has made it abundantly clear that he would like to keep Shankland in recent weeks.
Talks between the two parties have been ongoing for several weeks now, but it now seems as though the pair have reached a definitive conclusion, and it looks like good news for West Brom and the other interested parties.
It is now understood that talks between Shankland and the Edinburgh outfit have now broken down, according to the print edition of the Scottish Mail on Sunday (29 June, back page).
The striker was not present for the flight to the Jambos’ pre-season training camp on Saturday (28 June), and it has now been confirmed that he has failed to reach an agreement over a new deal.
There was only thought to be a small difference between Shankland’s demands and the club’s offer, but with Hearts unwilling to budge, the former Dundee United man looks set to exit Tynecastle.

The door is open for West Brom to sign Shankland
The Baggies need to add at least one striker this summer, and they have been linked with a return move for Will Lankshear, amid the wait for Shankland’s decision.

However, with the goal record that the Scot has behind him, he must surely now take priority.
Ryan Mason’s side have faced an agonising wait to find out whether they would even have the possibility of signing the frontman, but the door is now very much open for a potential move to The Hawthorns.
Ultimately, after such a successful period in Scotland, Shankland’s next big contract decision may well come down to whether he has a desire to prove himself south of the border.
