West Brom ready swoop to sign Charlie Kelman from QPR

West Brom’s summer transfer window has sprung into life in the last few days.

Nat Phillips remains the Baggies’ only addition so far, but several deals could be in the pipeline over the next few weeks.

Lawrence Shankland handed West Brom a huge potential boost by rejecting the offer of a new deal from Hearts, while Will Lankshear is also now being linked with a return move to The Hawthorns.

The attacking targets have kept on coming, and Charlie Kelman is now the latest man to be mooted for a move to join Ryan Mason’s ranks.

West Brom are keen on Charlie Kelman

Josh Maja’s injury record caused West Brom a major problem last term. The former Sunderland man began the season in impressive fashion, but when he picked up his injury in January, there was little to replace his goalscoring ability.

There is an understandable desire to ensure that the Baggies do not risk suffering the same issues as last season, which makes it unsurprising that they are currently pursuing such an array of attacking targets.

The latest man to be tipped for a potential switch to B71 is Charlie Kelman.

The American was in electric form during his loan spell with Leyton Orient last season, and now West Brom are understood to be ready to make a move for the QPR man, according to Darren Witcoop (29 June).

Kelman would be a great signing for West Brom

Shankland’s prolific goal record in Scotland has made him a hugely exciting link for West Brom fans, and the prospect of signing Kelman is a similarly attractive one.

The 23-year-old ended the campaign as the third tier’s top scorer last time out, in what was the strongest season of his senior career so far.

Kelman 2024/25 stats, in all competitions.

He possesses the kind of sharpness and awareness in and around the box that makes him extremely difficult for defenders to track, and he has proven time and again that he is a clinical finisher.

The frontman is relatively unproven at Championship level, but all the signs had pointed towards his parent club giving him the opportunity to impress in the upcoming season.

With that in mind, Kelman surely wouldn’t come cheaply for West Brom if they do end up materialising their interest, but there can be no doubt that he would be a fantastic signing if they could pull it off.
