Ben Foster calls out Sky Sports reporter after what he just said about Klopp live on air

Ben Foster has waded into the debate on the Club World Cup that was sparked by Jurgen Klopp.

The ex-Liverpool manager has made his strong feelings known on the competition, claiming that it is the worst idea that football has ever come up with.

The legendary Champions League and Premier League-winning boss has always been on the right side of the debate on player welfare, and he has called out the decision makers once again.

Foster reacts after what Sky Sports reporter said about Klopp

Klopp’s comments on the tournament, which features some of Europe’s best teams as well as South American giants, have sparked debate.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solkehol launched a bizarre rant about the ex-Anfield man after the comments that he made (28 June), saying: “Not everybody agrees with Jurgen Klopp and the other thing I would say to Jurgen Klopp is if you don’t like the Club World Cup, don’t watch it.

“Everybody can do what they want, you can play padel, go for a swim, you can watch something else on TV, maybe watch Netflix, go for a walk, or go for a nice meal.

“If you don’t want to watch Chelsea v Benfica, don’t watch it, it is a free world.”

However, Foster has hit back after what was said live on air, via his personal X account (29 June), saying: “Isn’t Kaveh Solhekol supposed to be an SSN reporter? Somebody who reports news impartially.

“Not somebody who gives their personal opinions on said news.

“I’d say Jurgen Klopp probably has a bit of credit in the bank when it comes to having an opinion on anything football related.”

Foster is a West Brom icon

The goalkeeper has gone on to become a global superstar since his time at The Hawthorns, starring in the documentary about Wrexham’s rise from non-league and forming his own YouTube channel, which boasts over one million subscribers.

In his time with the Baggies, he made 223 appearances in his six seasons with the Black Country club, earning himself icon status for the Throstles.

He still keeps in touch with the Albion and regularly reacts to events involving the West Midlands outfit and is heavily involved in local football, being spotted at a West Brom academy match in December.

Whether Baggies supporters will agree with his stance on the Klopp v Solkehol debate remains to be seen, but he is in the right, as it can not serve anyone well playing even more games at the top level.

One Baggies star who will take the former Reds manager’s side is Nat Phillips, who was a trusted lieutenant of Klopp when injuries decimated his side in the 2020-21 campaign.

Shilen Patel and Ryan Mason will hope that his experience under Klopp can help in their ambitions of reaching the elite level of the game once again, sooner rather than later.
