Josh Windass ready to quit Sheffield Wednesday after West Brom transfer rumours

Josh Windass has been a regular at Sheffield Wednesday for years.

The 30-year-old joined the Hillsborough club in 2020 and has helped to oversee their promotion back to the Championship

During this time, he has made over 150 appearances and netted 50 times.

Last season, Windass had one of his best seasons at Wednesday yet as he netted 13 Championship goals to ensure the Sheffield club stayed in the second tier.

However, his future at Hillsborough now appears to be uncertain.

Windass wants to leave Sheffield Wednesday amid ongoing crisis

While Ryan Mason is preparing for the upcoming campaign at West Brom, Josh Windass is amid a crisis at Sheffield Wednesday.

Wednesday have persistently paid their players late in recent months, which has led to a transfer embargo on the Owls.

Many of the players and staff are outraged at this crisis, with highly-rated manager Danny Rohl linked with a departure this summer.

On top of this, according to Tom Bogert via Instagram (1 July), Windass is one of several players who want to leave the Hillsborough club due to the ongoing situation.

West Brom have been linked to Windass in the past, and he could now make the move to the Baggies, with many Championship clubs “alert” about the situation.

Windass would be an excellent buy for West Brom

With Windass wanting to leave this summer, Mason must ensure that the forward moves to the Baggies.

The 30-year-old is a seasoned attacker who proved last season that he is still capable of hitting the back of the net despite playing for a poor side.

Whether he cancels his contract at Wednesday or he moves for a fee, West Brom should be first in line to acquire the attacker.

Hopefully, Mason is alert to the situation and is already in contact with his representatives over a potential move to The Hawthorns this summer.
