‘Maja one step closer to West Brom exit’ as multi-million Heggebo bid accepted
Josh Maja could now be staring the exit door in the face at West Brom.
The Nigeria international started last season in explosive fashion before injury problems began to take their toll on his output.
It now appears that the 26-year-old could be on the chopping block in the Black Country with Ryan Mason taking charge for the upcoming campaign.
This comes after a bid was accepted for a new striker to come in, in the shape of Aune Heggebo from Norwegian outfit Brann.

Heggebo could replace Maja at West Brom
There are currently positive striker options available at Albion, although fitness has been such a frustrating factor on form in the Midlands.
This has seen struggles for Daryl Dike be well documented, with hopes of a big season coming up in the new Championship season.
With that being said, it appears that Andrew Nestor has made the decision to bring in another new striker option for Mason to work with.
This has seen Fabrizio Romano report (4 July) that West Brom have had a £4.74million bid accepted for Heggebo with Brann ahead of a summer switch.
It is fair to say that the B71 club don’t spend this sort of money every week, showing just how much faith they have in the 23-year-old.
This could spell bad news for Maja, who may not see much of a future at The Hawthorns if a forward is coming in for such a sizable fee this summer.
As a result, an exit could be on the cards for the ex-Sunderland man before the new season begins in the Midlands.
Maja close to West Brom exit after £4.74m agreement
It has come as a shock that such a sizable figure looks set to be spent on the Norwegian after a seven-goal campaign in the Eliteserien.
Stat | Aune Heggebo |
Appearances | 135 |
Goals | 47 |
Assists | 4 |
Given how much success his countryman, Torbjorn Heggem, has had in the second tier, there is a positive feeling around the striker.
It will be a blow if this proves to spell the end for Maja, especially after he looked to have found his feet in Albion stripes last time out.
