Norway expert shares what West Brom fans can expect from Aune Heggebo as deal agreed

West Brom are set to sign Brann striker Aune Heggebo.

Albion have reportedly agreed a fee worth £4.74million to sign the Norway Under-21 international, who has scored seven goals in 13 league games for Brann in the current 2025 season.

Heggebo is due to jet into the UK to finalise his move over the weekend as West Brom close in on what is likely to be their biggest deal in the summer transfer window.

Heggebo’s power will make him top Championship striker

Nettavisen journalist Stian Andre de Wahl believes Heggebo is at a point in his career where a move to the Championship makes perfect sense for him.

Bergen-based Brann are currently second in the Norwegian Eliteserien, with only Bodo/Glimt’s Kasper Hogh and Viking’s Zlatko Tripcic (8) scoring more than Heggebo (7).

This season hasn’t been a one-off for the centre-forward, too. Last term, he netted 15 times in all competitions, including one against St Mirren in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

That’s led to Wahl telling West Brom News that Heggebo is essentially a perfect Championship striker.

While he’s strong, has a great work ethic and is dependable, he also isn’t quite yet the finished product and he can continue honing his craft at The Hawthorns.

“He is powerful, runs a lot and is a hard worker who gives his all,” Wahl told West Brom News.

“He’s left-footed and pretty good in the box. He can still improve his finishing but has all the tools to develop to be a very good striker. He has a good mentality and is a player you can trust.

“A move to England and the Championship is fair, I would say. He can develop and the league fits his style and physical presence.”

West Brom beat crowd to sign Heggebo

Albion’s summer business is starting to pick up pace.

Nat Phillips has arrived from Liverpool and earlier this week, young striker Jack Bray joined permanently from Harrogate Town.

Now, it’s been reported by Nettavisen in Norway that West Brom have beaten some of their Championship rivals to signing Heggebo.

Clearly, he is a striker who’s highly thought of in England and we’re excited to see how he does in blue and white stripes in the 2025/26 Championship.
