Mikey Johnston set for ‘life-changing West Brom exit’ with £5m deal close
Mikey Johnston is set to leave West Brom just 12 months after his permanent arrival from Celtic.
The winger was a regular for the Baggies last season, making 40 appearances, in which he scored three goals and provided five assists.
But the Irishman could now be on the verge of an exit from The Hawthorns, with a £5million deal close to completion.

Johnston to join Flamengo
Johnston made the switch from Glasgow in 2024 following a loan spell, after the winger enjoyed a superb second half of the season with West Brom.
In just 18 Championship appearances, the left-sided forward scored seven goals and established himself as a key player for the Baggies, signing a four-year deal.
West Brom were forced to shell out around £3m to keep Johnston in the West Midlands, with Burnley also competing for his signature at the time.

But it appears, following a season in which the 26-year-old was ever-present for the Albion, that Johnston is now on the way out at The Hawthorns.
According to Lewis Cox of the Express and Star, Brazilian side Flamengo are closing in on a deal worth around £5m for the Irishman’s services.
The sale will see West Brom profit on Johnston, with the move described as “life-changing”.
The Baggies are also set to benefit in terms of the Profit and Sustainability regulations, with the incoming fee allowing for increased wiggle room within the market.
West Brom will be happy to receive juicy fee
Johnston’s departure will require West Brom to spur into action in the transfer market.
The winger’s place in the squad will have to be filled, but the Baggies will be pleased to receive a sizeable fee for a player who struggled for consistency last season.
Johnston held the ability to light up the pitch for West Brom, but failed to demonstrate it as regularly as he did during his initial loan move.
By the end of last season, the winger would often find himself sitting on the bench, with Karlan Grant and Isaac Price selected in favour of him.
With the incoming £5m, West Brom can make a necessary push in the transfer market, with important business still required.
