West Brom news round-up: PSR worry arises at The Hawthorns as player exit on cards

West Brom are in the middle of a period of transition this summer.

Aune Heggebo has checked in and officially joined on Monday (7 July), while several others have been linked with a transfer to The Hawthorns.

Eseosa Sule exit confirmed as West Brom seal loan

Eseosa Sule is a player with bags of potential, having showcased that at youth level for the Baggies last season, scoring 14 times across all competitions.

However, first-team opportunities were always going to be limited for him this season, with Albion sanctioning his loan exit to Motherwell.

The 19-year-old will join up with the Scottish Premiership side immediately and partake in their pre-season training.

Sule took to Instagram to reply to West Brom’s announcement, commenting “Thank you” along with a raised hands emoji.

West Brom face PSR concern after transfer collapse

Mikey Johnston’s exit appeared but all but sealed until it emerged that Flamengo had dropped out of the deal after fan backlash.

The Albion star had agreed a £5million move away from The Hawthorns, which would have been a huge boost for the Baggies from a PSR perspective.

The deal would have represented a profit for Albion of around £2m, though with the deal falling through, they may have to look elsewhere for a big-money sale, with Joe Chapman reporting that the collapse of the Irishman’s transfer has presented a PSR “obstacle” for the Baggies hierarchy.

Kyle Bartley exit could be on at West Brom

One player who could leave the Baggies this summer is Kyle Bartley, with it claimed via DOOD that West Brom are willing to move him on if an offer comes in for him.

The 34-year-old defender was a regular under Tony Mowbray last season, but made countless errors which proved costly in the end to Albion’s promotion hopes.

Under Mason, this side will prioritise possession far more than they used to, and Bartley simply won’t be able to match that style.

At his age, he is unlikely to be one of the big-money sales needed to adhere to PSR, though shifting his wages could prove to be important.
