Grady Diangana ‘could seal perfect Rangers transfer’ after West Brom exit

Grady Diangana could be set for a quick return to British football less than a month after his West Brom departure.

The winger left the Albion in June after six seasons with the Baggies and will not be a part of Ryan Mason’s revolution in the Black Country.

The 27-year-old featured 34 times in the Championship last season, notching four goals and three assists in an underwhelming campaign.

The DR Congo international struggled to live up to the expectations at The Hawthorns, with another pressure environment on the cards next at Rangers.

Diangana set to stay in Britain amid transfer latest

West Brom supporters could even see Diangana back in the second tier next season, or he may be tearing it up in Scotland.

A report from SportsBoom (7 July) claims that Rangers and Portsmouth are looking to sign Diangana after his exit from the Throstles.

It states that John Mousinho and Russell Martin are both big admirers of the former West Ham youth sensation.

West Brom needed to move on from Diangana

It is safe to say that Diangana’s £18million move to the Baggies did not work out, as he notched just 18 goals from 171 matches after his permanent move.

He failed to ever recapture the form from his initial loan spell in the 2019/20 season, when he scored eight and assisted six goals in 30 matches.

He was expected to be the man to lead the push back to the Premier League, but he could never stay fit enough or contribute to make that happen.

The ex-West Brom star has been linked to Wolves and Leeds, but that interest seems to have died down in recent weeks.

His career has been a story of what-ifs, and it made sense for both parties to move on when they did, as Diangana can find his form at a new team, and the Baggies can use the money that they will save on new additions.

It has been an encouraging start to the transfer window for Albion, as they have already brought in Nat Phillips and Norwegian striker Aune Heggebo.
