Dike followed by senior star – Three players West Brom simply must sell
West Brom may need to make some sales in the summer amid PSR concerns.
The transfer window has been anything but straightforward so far for Ryan Mason, ahead of his first season in charge at The Hawthorns.
The Baggies have failed to land multiple of their transfer targets so far, with Lawrence Shankland and David Brooks’ moves to the Black Country off the cards.
Following the signing of Aune Heggebo for a reported £4.75million, West Brom seemingly need to make a notable sale after Mikey Johnston’s failed move to Flamengo presented a fresh PSR obstacle.

Now, West Brom News have highlighted three players the Baggies must sell to help balance the books.
Daryl Dike should be the first on Mason’s chopping block
Dike’s injury record at West Brom is simply stunning for all the wrong reasons.
The American striker has been linked with a move away from B71, and Mason should not hesitate to cash in should an offer arrive.
Whilst Dike has shown promise when he’s been fit, netting seven times in 14 starts back in the 2022/23 season, his availability is far too rare an occurrence.
With Heggebo’s big money arrival and Josh Maja both being options for Mason next season, Dike may find himself further down the pecking order, regardless of injury.
Dike is entering the final year of his contract, meaning this summer is the last opportunity that Albion have to receive a substantial fee for the player, with a contract extension extremely unlikely.

Jed Wallace should be axed from Albion’s squad
Following the arrival of Wallace from Millwall in the summer of 2022, the winger enjoyed two productive campaigns in the Black Country, recording a combined 12 goals and 13 assists.
However, Wallace’s form last year plummeted, and with the 31-year-old entering the final year of his deal, West Brom should look at facilitating a sale.
Jed Wallace | Stats (Championship 2024/25 season) |
Appearences | 29 |
Starts | 6 |
Goals | 1 |
Assists | 1 |
After already being unable to receive fees for multiple players this summer, with John Swift and Grady Diangana leaving after their contracts expired, West Brom cannot afford to see any more assets walk out the door for free.
With Wallace also finding playing time hard to come by last season, Albion’s skipper could welcome a move away, with the prospect of playing more regular minutes being an attractive one.

Bartley should be let go
Kyle Bartley is another player the Baggies should be looking to move on before next season.
The 34-year-old centre back’s future at the club has been thrown into doubt following the arrival of Nat Phillips from Liverpool.
In all likelihood, Phillips will partner Torbjorn Heggem at the back, making starts a potential collectors’ item for Bartley next season.
Bartley’s contract extension back in April means his new deal at The Hawthorns now expires in the summer of 2026.
However, if West Brom could receive some sort of fee for the veteran centre back, along with the other two aforementioned players, this could ensure a sale of Johnston, for example, would no longer be necessary.
Bartley is not going to be part of Mason’s long-term plans, and if he can be sacrificed to help keep Johnston in the Black Country, then it would be wise to do so.
