Ryan Mason has new transfer priority as West Brom footage emerges from Austria

Ryan Mason looks to have a huge concern on his hands at West Brom.

There is already good reason for positivity in B71 after the signing of Aune Heggebo earlier in July, but more additions are certainly needed.

After such a poor end to the last campaign at The Hawthorns, fans are calling out for something new from their side moving forward.

With that being said, a new transfer priority may have now emerged for the new head coach in an area supporters have been calling out for.

West Brom training must concern Mason

There is no doubt that the Baggies have quality in a number of positions across the pitch, but some are much stronger than others.

The forward line is looking positive moving into the new season, with plenty of competition across every position.

The same can’t be said about the goalkeeping position, after what was a terrible second half of the season in that area.

This saw Albion struggle hugely after the departure of Alex Palmer to Ipswich Town, prompting the beginning of the downfall in terms of league position.

It is fair to say that Joe Wildsmith received the majority of negative comments for that very reason, as he struggled after being promoted from number one.

Josh Griffiths wasn’t trusted after his recall from Bristol Rovers, but it now looks as if Mason will be better off signing a new number one entirely.

This came after West Brom shared training footage from Austria (10 July), showcasing shots on goal and attempting to highlight the excellence of the strikers.

Ultimately, this has had the opposite effect, with fans left concerned at the state of goalkeeping on show in the pre-season camp.

Mason needs new number one goalkeeper at West Brom

There is no shying away from how disappointing the output of the keepers appears to be at this early stage of pre-season.

This could be setting off alarm bells for Mason, who may now be turning his attentions to new goalkeeper targets moving deeper into the window.

There haven’t truly been many inbound links as it stands, with an exit for Kyle Bartley from the Midlands, the last reports emerging.

As a result, the ex-Tottenham coach now has to ramp up his efforts to land a new shot stopper before it is too late and the new campaign begins.
