West Brom return for pre-season

After a turbulent season last campaign, West Brom will be looking to right the wrongs.

Albion’s first step to doing so was appointing Mason and they will now look to strengthen their side further towards the end of the transfer window.

The squad are set for an intense training camp in Austria.

A notable return to the squad was Mikey Johnston, who flew to Austria and arrived at the training camp on Tuesday.

Johnston was due to sign for Brazilian side Flamengo before a deal fell through due to backlash from fans in South America.

Johnston could now be involved in West Brom’s game against Kyiv on Friday.

After the game, Albion will return to England to play Blackpool at Bloomfield Road before travelling to Lincoln.

They will then conclude their pre-season against Rayo Vallecano on 2 August at The Hawthorns before their Championship season kicks off.

West Brom will be disappointed with Johnston deal falling through

Johnston was not able to fully replicate the magic from his loan spell, and proved to be a less effective asset for the Albion last season.

Johnston had decent output last season.

The signing of Heggebo has shown that the Baggies won’t hesitate to move away from last seasons failing attack, with the 23-year-old Norwegian striker set to lead the line for West Brom next season.

Johnston would have brought a healthy profit for Mason’s side and would’ve allowed him to bring in more depth.
