West Brom transfer round-up: Nestor jets out as defender linked

West Brom are preparing to kick-start preseason in the midst of the transfer window.

The Baggies have already completed some signings with Aune Heggebo and Nat Phillips coming in, but business won’t be done there.

With that being said, preparations are now being focused on clashes in Austria as Ryan Mason takes charge of his first game in charge of the Albion.

This has now seen Andrew Nestor jet out as signings continue to be assessed, with West Brom News now rounding up all the news from 10 July.

Cedric Kipre set for Hawthorns return

Despite already bringing in a new centre-back option, there is no doubt that the Ivorian would be welcomed back with open arms.

The 28-year-old had a stellar campaign before his switch to French outfit Reims after what had previously been a largely difficult spell in B71.

With that being said, it doesn’t look as if the defender will be returning to the Baggies this summer, with a move to Ipswich Town now looking likely for Kipre [Mercato, 9 July].

Despite being under contract in Ligue 2 until 2027, the French side could force the defender out on loan, handing Kieran McKenna’s side an obligation to buy him next summer.

Nestor jets out for West Brom v Dynamo Kyiv friendly

In years gone by, there has been a general lack of care from those at the top of the food chain at The Hawthorns.

That certainly isn’t the case right now with Nestor and Shilen Patel, who have both shown a personal interest in their side since coming in.

This has been showcased once again with the pair both flying out to Austria, ready to watch the pre-season clash against Dynamo Kyiv [Steve Hermon, 10 July].

The Baggies duo will now take a place to watch the fixture as they await the maiden clash with Mason in charge.

West Brom interested in Jeffrey Schlupp signing

Albion are said to be plotting a move for Schlupp after he departed Crystal Palace at the end of his contract last season [Pete O’Rourke, 9 July].

The 32-year-old was released by the Eagles after a loan spell at Celtic, but it looks unlikely that Brendan Rodgers will bring him back permanently.

This could see Mason bring in the Ghana international on a free transfer to bring in plenty of experience for his Baggies side ahead of the new season.
