West Brom to face Premier League side in London friendly as details announced

West Brom are up and running with preseason and now look set to add to their schedule.

The Baggies began their summer warm-up on Friday (11 July) with a draw against Ukrainian outfit Dynamo Kyiv in Austria.

In Ryan Mason’s first match in charge of the Albion, Nat Phillips scored the opener before ultimately being pegged back late on.

With that opener now behind them, a new fixture looks likely to be added to the schedule against a Premier League outfit.

West Brom to add Premier League friendly to pre-season schedule

The B71 club currently have three further clashes lined up for their summer preparations ahead of the Championship campaign.

After picking up a draw in the first, the Baggies now have eight days remaining until they next take the pitch in pre-season.

This will see a trip to Bloomfield Road to face Blackpool take place on 19 July, to be shortly followed by an away friendly against Lincoln City (26 July).

Initially, it appeared that a fourth and final game would come at The Hawthorns on 2 August in a clash against Spanish side Rayo Vallecano.

Now this looks set to represent the fifth friendly of the summer, at least, with a behind-closed-doors friendly scheduled against Fulham on 22 July, according to Jack Kelly (11 July).

The freelance journalist reported that the Cottagers will host the Baggies at Motspur Park before jetting out for further clashes in Portugal.

West Brom to face Fulham in pre-season

It is fair to say that a clash against Marco Silva’s side will represent a true challenge and test for the Albion after lesser opposition in their other friendlies.

This will be an opportunity for the likes of Aune Heggebo to prove themselves on the big stage and stake a claim moving into the opening weeks of the second-tier campaign.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Mason’s men get on against Fulham, who will be hopeful of a positive season of their own moving forward.
