West Brom fans react as John Swift undergoes medical – ‘I’m so sorry…’
West Brom let go of some notable names at the end of last season.
Before Ryan Mason was appointed as West Brom manager, the Baggies made the big decision not to renew the contracts of multiple first-team players.
Among those released were Grady Diangana and John Swift, with both players having poor seasons.
Swift, in particular, was criticised by the Albion fanbase, but the midfielder now looks set to undergo a medical at his next club.

Swift to undergo medical at Portsmouth
Swift is on the verge of signing for Portsmouth, with the free agent set to return to his former club.
With the 30-year-old set to join a direct Championship rival, Swift could be seen playing at The Hawthorns again as soon as August.

Goals | 3 |
Assists | 1 |
West Brom supporters reacted to the news after it was initially shared by Charlie Gordon (12 July), and it’s safe to say they didn’t hold back when giving their damning verdict on their former player.
West Brom made the correct decision regarding Swift
Despite the prospect of Swift scoring against the Baggies, sending chills down the spines of supporters, they made the right decision not to extend his stay in the Black Country.
The relationship between Swift and the fanbase had become toxic, and it was apparent that a separation would be best for both parties.
West Brom’s fixture against Portsmouth can be a good indicator to the fans that the direction Shilen Patel is taking them is a positive one.
With the PSR issues that have surrounded the Albion in recent years, getting Swift’s wages off the books was a wise move as West Brom look to be run in a more sustainable manner going forward.
If new signings like Nat Phillips and Aune Heggebo thrive as Mason’s new look Albion side thrash Portsmouth, then they will have undoubtedly had the last laugh.
Supporters will be hoping this exciting Mason project culminates in their return to the Premier League.
